Sailboat

It is ridiculous how fast two year-olds learn;  most times I can't even keep up with what he already knows!

I was wearing a Nautica shirt the other day and Quentin pointed to the logo and said "a black banana!" Taking the opportunity to teach him something new, I told him, "That's a special kind of boat."

I paused to think of a way to explain sails... "That thing on top is like a kite. Do remember flying kites?"

"Like red kite?" he answered.

"Yes, like your Cars kite. Remember it flies in the sky when the wind blows on it."
"Pompa (Kris' dad) flies the kite!"

"Right, like when Pompa flies the kite. Well, this boat has a big thing on top like a kite that makes it go when the wind blows."

"Oh!" he answered, eyes wide, "Like a sailboat!"

I laughed, "Yes, Quentin, exactly like a sailboat."

As of 29 June 2012, Quentin is about 16 Months old he:

Quentin is a veritable verbal genius, he knows these words: cup, car, walk, banana, broccoli, kit kat, night-night, hi, bye, mommy, dadda, feet, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, bird, up, head, belly, octopus, bug 
Knows these colors: colors blue, yellow, red, white
Knows these letters: a,b,e,o,q, and m.
He is excellent at shape sorting, and just started walking on his own. He can feed himself with his fingers and has just started to use utensils. He can pull to stand.

Tea Party

Is it just me or isn't the tea party just a bunch of libertarians at heart who don't hate the establishment quite enough to risk joining a party that is unlikely to win seats?

Got my assignment....

So my program director called my last Thursday evening and tells me the assignments are out. "So... it's Altus," she says. My first thought is "Hmmm... Altus... where is that?" and the next thought was, "Wait a second... was that on my list?." Apparently not.

Altus is a small town of 27,000 about 2 1/2 hours southwest of Oklahoma City. Needless to say, since then Kristen and I have been going through a flurry of e-mails and phone calls to figure out how she will be employed. Good news is that there is a likely job opportunity at the brand-new local pediatrics clinic there so she won't have gone through 7 years of medical training to be unemployed!

On a side note, in part of our research about Altus, we learned that Verizon does not get 3G coverage in the town, so we switched to Sprint and both got android smart phones (HTC Hero). There's nothing like spending money to ease some bad news. Smart phones are really cool!

As always, you finish an enormous puzzle, and there is one piece missing.

Yet another piece of technology

Apparently I was a "laptop hog" so I got myself a netbook to get out of KBel's hair.... It is quite nice and I a pretty decent deal on it at BBuy.

It seems to be great so far!
